Monster Squeeze!

My students LOVE monster squeeze!  It is a game we play on our classroom iPad to help students with identifying greater and less than numbers.  The game has a mystery number (1-10) and the students get to guess what it is.  The monster squeezes the number until they find the correct mystery number.  Before we had our iPad, I made two little monsters out of construction paper and drew a number line on the board.  The nice thing about playing it on the board is that we can use higher numbers.  Then I moved the 2 monsters (which they named Purplish and Nightmare) based on their guesses.  My students love this game so much that they even ask to play it during inside recess!

Number Boards

Here is a number board we did awhile back.  It was great to be able to see each student's number sense.  I had some students do work like this one, and others that were all over the place.  Before we did this, we did a giant one as a class, made from chart paper and sticky notes.  Almost all of the students thought it looked like stairs!

Welcome to my blog!

This is my first year teaching, and I was hired at the end of September to help bring down class sizes in Kindergarten.  I currently have 22 wonderful students, and I am doing my best as a new teacher to create the best lesson plans possible.  Even though my first year is very busy, I am hoping to stay up with this blog (once I figure it all out) to help me stay organized and help me remember what I did in future years!  Happy December!
